Hi Paul, I’m no music academic ,so my comments may or may not be relevant. Could you tell me is there,or could there be put together a beginner’s guide or map to Zappa?Whilst talking to an old friend of mine the other day in a supermarket ,it became clear that because of the sheer volume and diversity of Frank’s work that people may simply not know we’re to start.

It is a particular problem with Zappa. As you say, his music is so broad and diverse – it is hard to know where to start. You could be brave and start from the beginning – working your way forward. Or like me – start from an area of interest (in my case his guitar based albums) – then move on from there. Good luck!
